Understanding Digestive Disorders

You know the routine by now. The antacid in the desk drawer. The laxative on the weekends. The mental list of foods that are fine on some days and not on others. The bloating that arrives by evening regardless of what you ate.

In medical terms these conditions look separate. Gas and bloating point to how food is being broken down and moved. Constipation is about motility and gut transit. GERD is acid moving upward through a valve that is not closing properly. IBS is a functional disorder - the gut behaving abnormally without visible damage. What they share is that most of them are treated at the point of symptom rather than at the point of cause.

The Ayurvedic View

Ayurveda places nearly all of this at the same door: Agni, the digestive fire. When Agni weakens, food is incompletely processed and becomes Ama - a sticky residue that clogs the channels and feeds almost every gut complaint that follows. Vata produces the gas, the bloating, the dry irregular stool and the erratic pattern of Vibandha and Adhmana. Pitta produces the burning, the sour reflux and the heat of Amlapitta.

Causes of Digestive Disorders

Gut problems rarely have one cause. In assessment, our doctors trace the combination of factors that has weakened your digestion over the years.

01

Irregular Meal Timing

Skipped breakfasts, late dinners, and eating at a different hour every day are among the fastest ways to weaken Agni, and among the most commonly overlooked.

02

Stress and the Gut-Brain Axis

The gut has its own nervous system and responds directly to sustained stress, which is why IBS and acidity flare in exactly the weeks you can least afford it.

03

Processed Food and Poor Combinations

Refined, packaged, heavily spiced and incompatible food combinations generate Ama faster than a weakened Agni can clear it.

04

Long-Term Medication Use

Years of antacids, PPIs, painkillers and repeated antibiotic courses alter stomach acid and gut flora, often leaving digestion weaker than before.

05

Low Fibre, Low Water, No Movement

A desk-bound day with little fibre and less water slows gut transit until constipation becomes the default state.

06

Suppressing Natural Urges

Routinely holding back the urge to pass stool or gas because of meetings, travel or unclean washrooms disrupts motility over time.

07

Alcohol, Smoking and Excess Caffeine

Each irritates the gut lining directly and weakens the valve at the top of the stomach that keeps acid where it belongs.

The Ayurvedic Approach

Where conventional care often treats each symptom in isolation, our approach works on rebuilding Agni itself, all carried out under physician supervision.

01

Root-Cause Assessment

A detailed evaluation of your meal timings, stress load, Koshtha and Agni state to understand what is truly driving the gut complaint.

02

Rebuilding Agni, Clearing Ama

Treatment directed at restoring digestive fire and clearing the Ama that generates gas, bloating, and irregularity.

03

Therapies such as Virechana and Basti, selected according to your presentation and administered under supervision.

Hear From Our Wellness Champions

Verified Google reviews from patients treated across our Bangalore clinics.

★★★★★

“Eight years of pantoprazole every single morning and the burning still came back the moment I skipped a dose. My physician actually looked at when I was eating, not just what. I am on a fraction of what I was, under my doctor's supervision, and the evenings are finally quiet.”

★★★★★

“Every scan and scope came back clear, which somehow made it worse - nobody could tell me what was wrong. The IBS diagnosis finally made sense of it. The plan was practical, the follow-ups were regular, and I can eat out with friends again without planning my exit.”
